Hi sewlover, welcome to today’s free tutorial. Today, I am going to be showing you how to make a Drawstring dress.
By now, I am sure you already know that it is drawstring season. Literally, most dresses made these days are made as drawstrings. But for the sake of those that may be hearing the term ‘Drawstring’ for the first time, a drawstring dress, also popularly known as a Ruched dress is a dress that has ruchness or gathers that are created by a drawstring. Unlike other ruched dresses that may have been made using simple gathers or elastic, the ruchness for this dress is caused by the drawstring included.
It’s a really beautiful dress that allows you to pull the strings on it to include the ruchness and a little of sexiness at will. I think I fell inlove with design for that exact reason. And I couldn’t wait to make mine.
So today, I am going to be showing you how to make the design.
This tutorial is divided into two parts:
How to make the Drawstring ruched dress pattern
This videos shows you how to alter your basic blocks into patterns for this dress.
